Hey! I'm Aristotelis, also known by my online alias Glutanimate. I have a mixed Greek-German ancestry, was born and raised in Germany, and am currently studying to become a doctor.
Somewhere along the line of my studies I stumbled on Linux which eventually got me into programming and software development [1]. With my first steps in Bash scripting I soon discovered the elegance and power of the Python programming language, and also started dabbling in web development.
Ever since then I have been employing my programming skills in my day-to-day life as a student and in free and open-source software solutions that benefit students and educators alike.
[1] It's funny how these things work out sometimes: If it wasn't for a Windows error, I would have never felt the need to seek out a different operating system; and if it wasn't for a good friend of mine in high school, I would have never known about Linux in the first place.
A lot of people have asked me about my name over the years, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to explain how I came up with it. If you are a neuroscience geek like me you've probably already figured it out, but for everyone else out there:
Glutanimate is a simple portmanteau of the words Glutamate and animate. Glutamate is the most abundant neurotransmitter in our nervous system. It's an excitatory signal molecule that animates our brain cells and makes us come up with nerdy puns like this :-).
